Ownership of the Central Coast Car Market

Wyong Regional Chamber of Commerce is the owner and the driving force behind the establishment of the Central Coast Car Market.

As a background the Wyong Regional Chamber of Commerce (WRCoC) commenced operations in the September 1925 and at that time was named Wyong Chamber of Commerce. From its inception this chamber showed it’s worth working for business and the community and with the Erina Shire Council, which was based in Gosford and was Est. 1906,

The Chamber had about seven name changes but the purpose and value to the community had never changed for the Chamber. It was the voice of the Toukley and The Entrance Progress Association as well as business in the greater area of the Wyong District.

Always looking to the future:

  • 1926 Worked very hard to get the Sydney – Newcastle train to stop at Wyong on Sundays 11.27 am and 9.30 pm
  • 1936 Drilling for oil at Kulnura
  • 1936 Trying to get a safe area for swimming in a Wyong River near the town
  • 1936 Committee formed to gather information for a high school at Wyong
  • 1936 Active in pushing for road works and connecting road
  • 1938 Active in setting up a situation for a medical officer to be placed at Wyong
  • 1938 Pushing for a bridge at Wallarah Point and removing dangerous turnings on the Entrance - Wyong roads before the next holiday season.

There is just so much, which had the backing and support of the chamber just to much to record here.

In more recent times the Building of the F3 Freeway ……. The Wyong Hospital situated at Kanwal. To the upgrading of the Road through Wyong well advanced in the planning stage and then waiting hopefully for the funding to be made available.

The Link Road from Wyong to Warnervale a very important section of road which when built will relieve the highway and other main roads and relieve the congestion which is most evident to the road users of today.

The Wyong Regional Chamber of Commerce has most certainly played its part in the growth and business of the Greater Wyong Area and will still play its part into the future.

In 2016 The Chamber identified that all groups, associations and especially Chambers of Commerce need funds to grow their business.

The need to look after the Members, businesses and the area costs and the income from membership and functions needs to be bolstered so that the efficiencies and successes of the past can be maintained.

To this end the WRCoC has been working on commencing a business from which the chamber will be able to gain the extra funding to employ our fabulous staff with more hours each week and we will be able to promote our selves to those businesses who are not yet members.

We are at this stage very close to launching the business.. which will have a website where people will be able to sell their own cars etc. on the Central Coast and on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. Those who want to display their cars etc. to prospective buyers will be able to do so.. The business will be called the “Central Coast Car Market” with the venue for the Market Days being the Zenith Business Centre which is situated at 6 reliance Drive, Tuggerah Business Park NSW 2259.
